As we settle into 2023, February is the time to finally start accelerating your actions towards your goals for the year.

The importance of hibernating in the winter is to not only conserve resources for the year ahead, but to also surround yourself in silence so that you may come back to your authentic sense of self. It is from this place that the true wisdom of the season can be found and you can make the best decisions for what you really need in life. With winter coming to an end, it is important to stay in alignment with what you’ve discovered about yourself during this time and use that to propel you into your best future.

If you did not have this experience the past few weeks, though, that’s ok. When we are out of balance in our minds and body, this natural seasonal rhythm is often more difficult to obtain. The body will often attempt to help your conscious mind understand what the subconscious is harboring by creating pain or dysfunction in order to draw your attention to it. Since we are not generally taught these rhythms in the west, though, we respond by numbing these responses instead of understanding them. This not only prevents the physical symptom from resolving, but it also acts as another barrier to you connecting to your most authentic self.

Starting from a place of patience is an important aspect in finding the route of dysfunction. Quite often the body has spent years creating the reality you exist in right now and it is going to take some time to return it to a state of balance. Patience is also important to dealing with the emotions that arise as physical dysfunctions are treated.

Regardless of what type of journey you are starting - health, career, relationship, etc, - taking time to quietly sit and consider what it is that your authentic self is asking for. Make a list of everything that comes up from what you desire most to what you wish to avoid. Try not to overthink what comes to mind and to just continue writing until you feel like you are tapped out. Now take some time to thoughtfully consider this list and notice if any sensations arise in your body when you read this list back to yourself. This can be a good indicator as to where you can start and where you may need to seek more outside help.

Now that you’ve taken time to slow down and listen to your needs, it is important to respect yourself and take action on those needs. Spring is on its way and with it the energy of action and growth. This is when your mind and body are designed to breakthrough blockages and create new paradigms in your life. Starting from a centered place of knowing will not only make this shift easier but more potent as well.

If you are interested in working with someone that not only understands the energetic rhythms of the mind but also the physical functions of the body, this is my specialty. Using a combination of acupuncture and integrative medicine, I help the body to release tension around constricted muscles as well as constricted narratives in order to help you move forward with what you really wish to achieve. Whether it's diminished knee pain so you can go back to hiking, treating arthritic hands so that you can go back to knitting, or improving sensation in neuropathic feet so you can drive again, my goal is to help you get back to doing the things that bring you joy.

How you feel matters. Let me help you feel your best.
